The Beagle Channel

Ushuaia is home to the southernmost commercial airport in the world. Many flights a day begin or end here as well as regular transport over to Antartica.

The Beagle channel is the gateway to Ushuaia which it the Southernmost city in the World and is commonly referred to as The end of the world. It is the home to many different birds in the area as well as being a safe home for sealions to raise their young away from predators.
If you were to visit Antarctica then you could catch regular boats sailing to between antartica and Ushuaia, some cargo and expedition ships but also Cruise ships depart from the same dock. The other alternative to reach Antartica is to fly from the local airport.

When visiting here i took a boat tour down the beagle channel where we observed southern giant petrels hunt the smaller bird imperial shags. Being able to see this showed the brutality of these birds once they acted together as well as the strength of their beaks on their prey. Once the birds were done feasting you could see small remnants of their kill from the occasional feather to bones.
The Sea lions raise their young in the Channel before heading out to more open waters once the young are old enough and confident enough to brave the open waters and protect themselves against predators.
